Naples Nursing Management Services (NNMS) announces the promotion of its Shift-Bid system, the company's latest contribution towards helping local healthcare organizations effect major cost savings without sacrificing the quality of patient care. This combined with the Education Data Repository enables healthcare organizations to fill vacant shifts with internal staff or independent contractors, with significant savings over the cost of bringing in traditional agency nurses.
Shift bidding has been described as a reverse e-Bay model, where employees take part in an auction for shifts and the lowest bidder wins. A concept used extensively in the firefighting and airline industries, hospitals are now catching on to the benefits of putting open shifts out to bid to employees they can trust to be fully compliant and competent.
Nurse Registries are permitted by law to contract with registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, homemakers, and companions as independent contractors. The good news is that the net effect of this type of arrangement can be more income to the contractor and/ or lower cost to the patient than with a traditional licensed home health agency.
There are however several steps that must be taken in order to ensure at a minimum, the same level of protection to the contractor and the patient afforded under a traditional employment arrangement. Naples Nursing has teamed up with the Nurses Service Organization (NSO) and Contractor Management Services (CMS) to arrange for a means for ensuring:
Professional Liability Insurance
On-the-Job Accident Insurance with Medical and Death Benefit
Job-Related Disability Coverage for Long and Short Term Income Protection
Non-Occupational Benefits for Added Protection Away from the Job
Tax Preparation Services Including Estimated Quarterly Taxes
